interesting facts:
The International Music Competition named of Queen Elizabeth of Belgium in 1951 was announced for the first time in 1937, when Queen Elizabeth fulfilled a dream of her deceased friend Eugène Ysaÿe and organized a violin contest held in his name. In the following year the best pianist was chosen, in 1953 the best composer for the first time and the best singer in 1988. Contests in these four categories are held almost every year for 75 years, what commemorates this Belgian coin of 2 euros from 2012. Today the winner is awarded 20,000 EUR, a concert tour, and an album record, and the best violinist receives additionally a Stradivarius violin for a three-year loan.
