interesting facts:
On April 25, 2005 Bulgaria signed an accession treaty, which opened the way of Bulgaria to the European Union. This coin commemorates this event.
On the coin's obverse an image of a sitting woman is shown. The coin designers were inspired by a fresco from the Thracian tomb dated to 4th-3rd century BC. This masonry tomb is a part of a huge Kazanlak necropolis (Казанлъшка гробница). The entrance to the tomb was discovered by accident on April 19, 1944 by soldiers fortifying a - what seemed to be - natural hill. In 1979 the Kazanlak tomb was listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
