1 pound = 1000 mils

The British pound [GBP] was decimalised during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. The Cypriot Pound [CYP] pegged to the British pound was then recalculated accordingly. The only difference was that 100 British pence amounted to 1000 Cypriot mils. Thus, the equivalent of British half-penny coins were Cypriot five mils. Queen Elizabeth II was depicted on obverses of Cypriot coins circulating until March 1, 1984, what means that these coins were in use long after the declaration of independence of Cyprus on August 16, 1960.
