interesting facts:
The Finns had much freedom within the Grand Duchy of Finland, which became an autonomous region within Russia in 1809. But at the end of the 19th century, Russia began intensively the russification of Finland, which led to an atmosphere of rebellion. Shortly after the outbreak of the October Revolution in Russia, on December 6, 1917, the Parliament of Finland proclaimed independence, which shortly thereafter was recognized by Russia, and later throughout the world. Finnish commemorative coin of 2 euro from 2007 commemorates the 90th anniversary of this event.
