This commemorative coin of 2 euro from 2013 marks the 150th anniversary of birth of Pierre de Coubertin (1863-1937). De Coubertin was a French baron, historian and educator. He founded the International Olympic Committee and initiated the idea of modern Olympics. Pierre de Coubertin is also the author of the Olympic flag with five differently coloured rings - symbols of five continents.
