interesting facts:
The production of coins of this type in brass has become too expensive and in 2013 the National Bank of Poland announced a tender for the production of coins of this denomination in cheaper steel only coated with brass. The tender ended on October 31, 2013 and it appeared that The Royal Mint of Great Britain proposed the lowest price and won the contract for the supply of grosz coins from April 2014 to December 2016. The first coins of steel indeed appeared in circulation in March 2014 and are gradually replacing the brass coins, whose production ended.
The National Bank of Poland published mintage numbers of circulation coins only in January 2002, which was 12 years after minting the first coins and 7 years after putting them into circulation.
