The production of this type of coins began on September 16, 1994 using Schuler automats, which simultaneously connect rings with cores of planchets.

The National Bank of Poland published mintage numbers of circulation coins only in January 2002, which was 12 years after minting the first coins and 7 years after putting them into circulation.
