interesting facts:
The Monument to Fallen Shipyard Workers was presented on December 16, 1980 as a result of Solidarnosc demands after the August 1980 protests. The monument commemorates shipyard workers killed by state police during the 1970 protests and is a cooperative design of Bogdan Pietruszka, Wiesław Szyślak, Wojciech Mokwiński and Jacek Krenz. It stands in front of gate No 2 of Gdansk Shipyard - the craddle of "Solidarnosc" - the first non-communistic party in People's Republic of Poland.
