interesting facts:
Stelmužė Oak is the oldest and thus the most famous tree in Lithuania. The age of the oak is estimated between 1500 and 2000 years. Accurate calculation is impossible since the interior of the trunk was removed in order to save the tree from disease and decay. Also a number of diseased branches was removed, and even the healthy ones are today supported. The trunk of the oak has a diameter of approximately 3.5 m and circumference of approximately 13 m in the thickest section.
