ESTONIA (1992-2011) - Estonian kroon [EEK]
1 kroon = 100 senti
The second Estonian kroon [EEK] was introduced on June 20, 1992, when the Bank of Estonia began to replace the Soviet ruble [SUR] with ratio of 1 EEK = 10 SUR. The kroon was pegged to the German Mark [DEM] with a ratio of 1 DEM = 8 EEK. After the introduction of the euro currency [EUR], the kroon was calculated automatically with respect to the German Mark. This simplified the procedure to join the ERM II with a value of 15.6466 kroon per 1 euro. The circulation coins were 5, 10, 20 and 50 senti and 1 and 5 krooni. The Estonian kroon has been replaced by the euro [EUR], which became the currency of Estonia on January 1, 2011.
