interesting facts:
The royal castle Christiansborg in Copenhagen burned down in October 1884. On the same place another castle was designed by the competition winner Thorvald Jørgensen. This palace, in the contrary to the old version, was crowned by a high, 106-metre tower. The palace was completed on January 12, 1928, but the royal family has never moved in. It now houses the parliament, governmental offices and museums.

The coin series "Towers" (Tårnmønter) are dedicated to one of the most famous Danish architects Arne Jacobsen (1902-1971). To commemorate the 100th anniversary of his birth a coin was struck with his most famous design - the tower of Aarhus city hall. The series continued until 2007 and it contains ten coins:
