The royal yacht "Dannebrog" (literally "Danish Flag") was launched on October 10, 1931 in the naval shipyard in Copenhagen. From this moment she has traveled more than 300 000 nautical miles in the service of the royal family.

The coin series "Ships" (Skibsmønter) presents Denmark as a country of sailors. This series was inspired by a successful scientific expedition Galathea III, which was commemorated with a coin with the frigate Vædderen. The National Bank of Denmark issued 12 commemorative coins in this thematic series:
